TF AI in Education

The task force AI in Education has been established to develop consensus and recommendations about "What AI topics should be taught in schools?". In particular, discourses of AI experts on “What everyone should know about AI” will be to be brought together with didactic considerations about how to teach AI in schools especially in the context of a computer science curriculum. All age groups and all types of schools as well as requirements for basic and advanced training for teachers should be taken into account.

Members of the working group will be recruited from the section on AI (FBKI) as well as the section on Computer Science and Education / Didactics of Computer Science (IAD) of the German Informatics Society (GI).

The constituent meeting of the task force was at May 20, 2021.

In 2022, the steering committee is working on a book project in which basic methods and topics of AI for teachers will be presented in a cooperation between AI experts and computer science didactics. Suggestions how to include these contents into teaching are given. Main focus is on teaching AI as part of computer science education. In addition, suggestions and materials for dealing with AI topics in social sciences and humanities are made. The book project has been developped at a Dagstuhl meeting.
